Be a Pioneer! Be One of the First!Come Design the Future of Learning
Building rigorous digital badges for an increasingly complex world
Because… employers want to see more than just your resume
Because… you’d be a part of an elite group of students from around the globe
(which, by the way, you can put on your resume)
Because… 21st century skills are in demand
We set out to answer the question:
How might we capture learning beyond the traditional transcript in ways that are meaningful to employers?
Now two years into prototyping possible solutions to this question, the Education Design Lab and a cohort of colleges and universities—both national and international, public and private—are developing a full suite of 21st century skills digital badges: Catalyst, Collaboration, Creative Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Cross-Cultural Competency, Empathy, Oral Communication, Resilience, and Self-Efficacy.
Participants include undergraduate and graduate students as well as employers. The feedback gathered from the pilots will not only influence each school’s badge design but will also help define the future of the Challenge and the way we think about the development and acquisition of 21st century skills for thousands of learners.
Which of the following are the most critical skills for employees in your organization to possess today?
(Google, Economist, 2015). In an increasingly complex world, more and more employers are recognizing the importance of 21st century skills, such as creative problem solving, collaboration, and oral communication. However, students and recent graduates have difficulty displaying these competencies to employers.
What Students Are Saying
We are creating badges on campuses across the nation and around the world.
