We’re pleased to announce that Naomi Boyer has joined the Lab as Education Designer, Digital Credential Products. Naomi comes to the Lab with over 20 years of experience in K-12, community and state colleges, and universities. Most recently, Naomi served as the VP, Special Projects, Strategic Priorities and Growth, at Polk State College in Winter Haven, FL. During her tenure, Naomi had oversight for all areas of technology, including academic technologies, innovative program development and implementation, cultivation of international initiatives, community outreach, engagement, and advocacy, special growth projects, and robotics pipeline programs. Her leadership on award winning career pathways pilots earned her a prestigious Bellwether Award. Through the Community College Futures Assembly, the Bellwether College Consortium recognizes best practices occurring at community colleges across the world.
At the Lab, Naomi will be primarily responsible for taking our 21st century skills badge assets to the next level, providing strategy related to product-market fit and building the coalition of the willing to co-design and test new concepts. She will also lend her deep expertise in competency-based education and adaptive learning to the Lab’s other projects.
From Naomi: “I am excited to have the opportunity to contribute to the amazing work of the Education Design Lab team as they collaboratively grapple with educational challenges and design unique, innovative, responsive solutions that lead to student success and a vibrant workforce. It is an honor to be able to assist in the scaling, deploying, and coordination of the products of the 21st Century Skills Badging initiative, which address one of the most significant incoming talent concerns being discussed by employers across the nation—development of employment ready skills.”
From Kathleen deLaski, President and Founder: “We have already been partnering with Naomi for two years in her role as a leader in the competency-based education movement. She will provide a unique combination of senior expertise in technology, community college change management, product development and pathways design for our team and our design partners.”
