News Inside the Lab

Dear Education Design Lab Innovators,

We wanted to share our updated website as we near completion of our first three design challenges. We will try to use this newsletter format, the @eddesignlab Twitter account  and the website as vehicles to share what we are learning and testing as new education models. These first three challenges spanned 7 months, included 50+ university personnel at George Mason University and at Northern Va Community College, 50+ entrepreneurs and nonprofit players and 100+ students. We spawned one National Science Foundation grant application to try to shorten the pathway to cyber careers for veterans and two exciting first-in-the-country pilots, which we’ll be watching closely: a) one to bake apprenticeship into the four year degree, and b) the other to test badging for 21st century skills with employers and students.

So thank you for your interest and we may see some of you this week at the Education Innovation Summit in Scottsdale, AZ, where we are co-hosting a roundtable with universities and investors on creative business models for higher ed innovation.
