Chanel Fort

Stillman College

Chanel L. Fort is an innovative, collaborative leader in learning and workforce development. With over 20 years of experience, Fort has made a career designing and facilitating sustainable education and career training programs in higher education, business, and government entities.

Fort is the Director of Academic Innovation at Stillman College, an HBCU located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She is also the Creator and Learning Strategist of Fortified Learning Solutions.

Fort is a member of various organizations and committees and remains actively engaged in the community as: Change Agent for the national UNCF office; founding member of the Advisory Council for the A.G. Gaston Boys and Girls Club; key member of Education and Workforce Development for the 2018 City of Birmingham’s Mayoral Transition Team; and member of the Emeritus Executive Leadership for American Heart Associations’ Go Red for Women.

A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Fort earned a B.S. in health sciences and an M.S. in human services administration.

The Education Design Lab’s Designers in Residence program is an 11-month opportunity for leaders to collaborate with the Lab in co-creating the future role of colleges in their communities.

The 2021 cohort will bring together a design team of 12 visionary thinkers and doers from postsecondary institutions to evolve and strengthen the role of colleges to be regional change agents to close economic and racial opportunity gaps.
