Lisa Larson

Eastern Maine Community College

Dr. Lisa Larson, President of Eastern Maine Community College, has dedicated her career to advancing the mission of community colleges.

With her student-centered approach, she has reinvested in the college’s strategic planning processes, adding awards and microcredentials in high-demand fields and focused on completion and transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

Dr. Larson maintains strong relationships with the communities the college serves and strives to enhance the college’s partnerships throughout the region. She has served on numerous local boards, including the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce, Eastern Maine Development Corporation and Jobs for Maine’s Graduates.

Before joining EMCC, Dr. Larson held leadership positions in Minnesota including interim president at North Hennepin Community College and vice president for academic and student affairs at Hennepin Technical College.

Dr. Larson holds an Ed.D. from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota, a M.A. from Minnesota State University, Mankato and a B.S. from Northern State University.

The Education Design Lab’s Designers in Residence program is an 11-month opportunity for leaders to collaborate with the Lab in co-creating the future role of colleges in their communities.

The 2021 cohort will bring together a design team of 12 visionary thinkers and doers from postsecondary institutions to evolve and strengthen the role of colleges to be regional change agents to close economic and racial opportunity gaps.
