Yvette Vargas is the Executive Vice President, Head of Development at Citizens. She joined the bank in 2012, and is responsible for defining and leading an integrated development strategy that’s tied to the broader business agenda. Her direct management function includes talent management, leadership and management development, organizational development, and education and training.

Additionally, Vargas plays a key role in developing and operationalizing Citizens’ work to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. Central to Vargas’ approach is her belief that an organization must cultivate the skill, the will, and the environment to sustain these efforts authentically.

As a first generation Cuban American, Vargas has taken to heart her mother’s sage advice to remember to climb and lift others as a champion of DE&I initiatives within Citizen as well as in developing and operationalizing Citizens’ work to promote social equity and drive economic advancement in underserved communities.

Vargas was honored by Ragan Communications in their 2020 list of Top Women in HR.
