On Aug. 10, 2023, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. ET, Education Design Lab will host a virtual XCredit Phase 2 Showcase, a celebration and demonstration of the incredible work and partnership that happened during the second year of the Lab’s XCredit project.
Why it matters
Learning that happens on the job and in everyday life develops crucial skills that can be as meaningful as those signaled by certifications and degrees, yet it goes largely unrecognized by educational institutions and employers.
XCredit — or “experience credit” — is the value given to an individual’s existing skills, which can serve as currency for future opportunities. Through the XCredit project, now entering its third phase, the Lab is prototyping a scalable, interoperable set of validation tools and methods, aiming to strengthen stakeholder confidence in the skills-based ecosystem.
