Watch a recording of our Community College Growth Engine Fellows Learn+Share Showcase.
In March 2025, the Education Design Lab hosted a 90-minute webinar to unveil and discuss the work of the Community College Growth Engine (CCGE) Fellows, showcasing how they have applied the micro-pathway design process within their own state contexts, followed by a Q&A.
Co-designed with learners and employers, micro-pathways are two or more stackable credentials, including durable skills micro-credentials, that are flexibly delivered to be achieved in less than a year and result in a job at or above the local median wage while putting learner-earners on the path to associate degree completion.
The CCGE Fellows program builds on the success of the Lab’s Community College Growth Engine (CCGE), which uses human-centered design to build skills-based pathways. To date, CCGE has engaged 100 colleges, which have designed 200+ micro-pathways to high-demand careers. Through the work with these colleges, the Lab has learned the micro-pathways design process has the potential to serve as the gateway toward institution-wide transformation as colleges deeply embed the human-centered design process into many aspects of their organizational strategies.
Intended audience
State system leaders, policymakers, and learn+work practitioners who want to learn more about the practical application of micro-pathway design.
