Education Design Lab and our partners from Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) will share what we’ve learned about designing career-connected, dual enrollment pathways during an Oct. 3 webinar hosted by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE).
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 to Oct. 15)!
Hispanic student enrollment in higher education is expected to exceed 4.18 million students by 2026, far surpassing the growth rate of any other racial-ethnic group — by over 10%. There is a clear need to provide targeted interventions and sustainable systems change for more equitable, accessible pathways to good jobs.
Come join this webinar to learn how the Education Design Lab supports HSIs in creating community-engaged, learner-centered, career-connected, dual enrollment pathways.
During our session, the panelists will:
- Share insights, effective methods, and promising practices for integrating cultural understanding into outreach, recruitment, retention, and support services to facilitate equitable access to accelerated career training.
- Highlight how students and parents were engaged in the design of accelerated dual enrollment pathways and the impact of this on the students, their families, and communities.
- Feature our partnerships with employers on the design of the accelerated pathways and the impact of this on the students, institution, and ecosystem.
- Demonstrate how to better tailor career-connected pathways to align with the needs of Latino students, offering them opportunities for growth and belonging and fostering mutual respect and effective collaboration.
- Provide insights into the barriers Hispanic students face and suggest culturally responsive strategies to overcome them.
